I ♥ it

The place which I am going to write about today is very important for me... Why? I will tell you. All in good time.
Well.. I'm not going to write another mystery.. I think you had quite a lot of them in my last posts.
Today I am going to write about the beautiful castle and it's garden - Versailles.
Why is it that important for me? Well.. I love writing stories. When I was walking through the gardens I hit on an idea for my next novel. Now, I have got about 70 pages A4 of my book and that's not the end :) When I was there, I felt like a princess, so maybe that's the reason my book is about the middle ages...

But now something more serious. History?
I know, I know... Some of you don't like history... If you don't want to read you can omit this part of text.

The palace was build in the beginning of XVII century from the order of king Louis XIII of France. It was his hunting palace, but the king also spend there time when he wasn't hunting. The palace had been rebuild many times from XVII-XIX century.
Now it's a museum. From 700 rooms in palace, visitors can see 120.

The palace and it's garden has got 800 hectare area. The garden is an archetype of French formal garden.

And now - some photos of the garden!

I hope, when you see this pictures you can imagine why I felt like a princess when I was there. It's magical!
So beautiful and magical!
I believe I will return to Wersal many times...  Maybe if I didn't find new ideas for books?

Bye. bye :)

See you in France!

“Diane Kruger who used to wear modest dresses, decided to try something more courageous. At the premiere of Therese Desqueyroux on Film Festival in Cannes she was wearing a Dior’s dress.”

“Who said the supermodels era has finished? On the red carpet in Cannes we could see a lot of them.”  from: http://www.kozaczek.pl

About the gossip like that we can read in every tabloid. So why I am writing them here? It's not a blog about celebrites!

Yes, that's right. It's not a blog about celebrites. It's a blog about France.

It's time for fun!

Bonjour!
I promised next post will be happier. And I will keep my word.
The place I am going to write about is one of the happiest in Europe (maybe exepting Asterix Park - it's only my opinion)
Do you know what is it?

Yes! DisneyLand in Paris!

Here is the map of Disneyland and it's area.

I wrote you about Asterix Park and I said that it's better (for me). Maybe some of you weren't in this amusement parks so you can't compare them. I will say you something about this park:

Well... when I visited it I was maybe 6 years old. I don't remember everything... But I will do my best :)

First we ride this train around the Park.
Hmm... What I remember... There were veeeeeeeeery long queues. We were waiting half an hour for 1 minute ride.. It was terrible! Next, we went to see the most characteristic building in DisneyLand - Sleeping Beauty's Castle:

Next.. well I think we try some attractions. I was very young, so we didn;t try any roller-coasters.
After that there was a parade. Here are some photos:

Mickey and Minnie Mice on their boat. Maybe the boat comes from the first Mickey Mouse film (with sound) You can watch it here: Steamboat Willie (Walt Disney, 1928)

The Cinderella's carriage

The mouse - Cinderella's friend

The Little Mermaid

Beauty and the Beast

And that's all. I heard that in the evening there is a fireworks' show. It might be very interesting.
But in my opinion, Asterix Park is better (the reason is that I love reading Asterix's Comixs)

In honour of 700.000 killed...

Today's weather isn't nice... There are clouds and we can't see the sky... It was raining in the morning.. So I'm not I a very good mood...
I decided to say you something about the very sad event... It was in 1916, exactly from 21st of February to 20th of December 1916. Do you know what was it? No?
There was a big battle of Verdun.

The battle began at 07:15 on 21 February 1916 with a 10-hour artillery bombardment by 808 guns. German soliders  launched an assault on 6-kilometers long section Haumont-Caures-Herbebois.
Battle had 6 phases. All of them were very brutal...
If you want to know more, you can read about all battle here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Verdun

Now, in Verdun there is a very big graveyard. I will show you some photos of this place:
Douaumont ossuary - this building commemorates fallen

Ossuary and a small part of cemetery

Part of cemetery

Muslim cemetery (all of graves turned in the direction of Mecca)
And that's all.
I promise next note will be happier :)
A plus!

Higher than Clouds!

Yes... That's true..
We were higher than clouds!
Or.. no.. we weren't higher than clouds because there wasn't any clouds!! :(
Oh! Do you know what I am talking about?
Of course about Millau Viaduct!

It is the tallest bridge in the world with one mast's summit at 343.0 metres  above the base of the structure. That's really high! Look at this picture:

The bridge was designed by the French structural engineer Michel Virlogeux and British architect Norman Foster. The viaduct is part of the A75-A71 autoroute axis from Paris to Montpellier.
Construction cost was approximately €400 million. A lot of money!

When we arrived there weren't any clouds. But sometimes you can see that view:

It's amazing! Isn't it?

We didn't feel the high when we were driving... But now when I see the bridge I am very proud I saw that beautiful place!
Of course I recommend it for you!
Bye :)

The City of Kings

Well.... I decided to tell You something about Reims - beautiful city in the Champagne-Ardenne region of France. It lies 129 km east-northeast of Paris.

Maybe You are interested why did I write the title of this post "The City of Kings". The reason of that name is connected with the history of France. Do you know that this city played a prominent ceremonial role as the traditional site of the crowning of the kings of France?
The coronations took place in the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Reims (here is the photo)

This cathedral is very simmilar to cathedral Notre-Dame in Paris...
Beautiful rose window in the cathedral
Here you can see the monument of the "Smiling Angel". This statue you can see outside of the cathedral on one of the walls. (angel on the right)

And now, some other photos form the city:

Royal Square

The Town hall

Ruins of Roman  arch

I hope it was interesting for you :)
See You next time! (Maybe in France?)
Ou revoir!

Wild & Beautiful

Did you hear about beautiful Verdon Gorge?

The Verdon Gorge located in south-eastern France (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), is a river canyon that is often considered to be one of Europe's most beautiful.
It is about 25 kilometres long and up to 700 metres deep. It was formed by the Verdon River. One of the most characteristic features of the canyon is turquoise-green colour of the water.

Because of its proximity to the French Riviera, the canyon is very popular with tourists, who can drive around it, go kayaking on the artificial lake of Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon or hike. The walls which are several hundreds of metres high, attract many rock climbers.

At the end of the canyon, the Verdon river flows into the artificial lake of Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon (in French: Lac de Sainte-Croix).

Ok, that was something about the canyon... Let's see some photos!

 Some landscapes...

The road was very winding...
↑ some pictures of the river...
This photo had been done by my dad :) That colours ↑ are like real!
The French name of this lake is Lac de Sainte-Croix.

From this bridge, you can jump on bungee!!

 Ok, that's all I think..
I reccomend this place to visit :)

Bye, bye :**Anne
