Real Carcasonne

Hello!
How are you? I hope everything is ok.
Some time ago I did a survey “What is your favorite city in France?”. There were only 6 votes… That’s why I’m very sad… Paris and Saint-Tropez have ex equo first place. Congratulations! On the second place there are Lyon and Nicaea.
Well.. I hope you will vote in next survey, which will be called “What do you prefer?”. I won’t write answers here. Wait for my survey and vote!
But today I won’t write only about survey! I decided to tell you something about very beautiful city called Carcassonne…

Landscape of Old Carcassonne

Isn't it beautiful? I think it is.
This city has never been  captured because of  double bailey.

The total lengh of  extarnal walls is 1700 meters and the total lengh of  internal walls is 1300 meters. The high of the walls run from  a few meters to over a dozen meters. On the fortification you can find 52 towers.

The city has existed since Roman times but that walls were build in XIII century. Since today 300 people live in the old town.

In this picture, you can see a Romanesque-Gothic basilica Saint Nazaire.
And here you can see another photos from this beautiful city :)

So.. If someone says that he was in "Polish Carcassonne" like Paczków, Szydłów, Byczyna or Chelmno, tell him about the real Carcassonne.
That cities cannot equal it :)

A plus! See you in next note!
